Chak De India

Plot:

Chak De India is a film which utilizes the sport of field hockey to explore larger themes relating to sexism, ethnic prejudice, and religious prejudice in contemporary India. The story is told through the relationship which develops between disgraced field hockey superstar, Kabir Khan (Shahrukh Khan), and the members of the Indian women’s field hockey team which he coaches.

The film opens with the final minutes of the Hockey World Cup between the Pakistan national field hockey team and the India national field hockey team, with Pakistan leading, 1-0. When Indian team captain and hockey superstar, Kabir Khan is fouled, he elects to take the penalty shot himself although he did not have the ball. However, his strike flies just above the goal, and India suffers a crushing defeat. Soon after, the media begins to circulate a photograph of him accepting a handshake from the head of the Pakistani team, speculating that Khan (who is a Muslim) might have “thrown” the game as an act of sympathy towards Pakistan. The speculation and prejudice exhibited towards Khan forces him and his mother out of their ancestral home and into exile.

Seven years later, Indian sport officials are surprised to learn that Khan wants to coach the Indian woman’s field hockey team, a job no one else wants (as, an official indicates, the only long term role for women is to be a wife and mother). The team, which is composed of the best 16 players in the country, is widely diverse with regard to region and ethnicity. These differences, however, lead to immediate and sometimes violent friction between the players, which also creates several subplots in the film : Komal Chautala (Chitrashi Rawat) from a village in Haryana conflicts with Preeti Sabarwal (Sagarika Ghatge) from Chandigarh whom she refers to as “memsaab”; tough girl Balbir Kaur (Tanya Abrol) from the Punjab bullies Rani Dispotta (Seema Azmi) and Soimoi Kerketa (Nisha Nair), both from jungle villages in Jharkhand; and Mary Lalte (Kimi Laldawla) from Mizoram and Molly Zimik (Masochon “Chon Chon” Zimik) from Manipur are both treated as “foreign” by virtually everyone they meet. In addition, the players must also contend with sexism not only from strangers but from family members as well: Mary and Molly face repeated sexual harassment; Komal’s parents worry that her interest in hockey will destroy all hope of a good marriage; team captain Vidya Sharma (Vidya Malvade) is forced to choose between hockey and the wishes of her husband’s family; and Preeti’s boyfriend, the vice captain of the India national cricket team mocks her involvement with the team, telling her that her only important role is being his wife. Plot:

Diamonds worth Rs.100 million are stolen from a dangerous don, Papa (Mukesh Tiwari) and the precious stones accidentally fall in the hands of young love birds - Chandu (Upen Patel) and Chandni (Tanisha), who quickly hide them in a car.Papa and his idiotic henchmen Albert (Vrijesh Hirjee) and Pinto (Manoj Pahva) are desperately hunting for the diamonds while hot-headed police officer Mayavati Chautala (Neetu Chandra) wants to nab criminals.Enter the first Laxmi Narayan (Tusshar Kapoor), who belongs to a mafia family. His mother is hoping that despite a few murders under his belt, he will settle down in life. After failing badly in his initial attempts, he gets a chance to redeem himself as a don by killing Papa. He goes to hotel Blue Diamond to kill Papa.Now enter the second Laxmi Narayan (Suniel Shetty), a management postgraduate from Darjeeling. He too is sent to hotel Blue Diamond to collect a new car for his boss from Laila (Sameera Reddy).The third Laxmi Narayan (Paresh Rawal) is a hawker who has made so much money selling underwear on the footpath that he has set up a lingerie factory for his son. His son sends him to the same hotel to collect lingerie samples from upcoming designer Jiya (Esha Deol).Three Laxmi Narayans are at the same place at the same time waiting for messages at the hotel reception desk.The messages go to the wrong people.The first Laxmi Narayan gets lingerie designer Jiya’s photo and goes to kill her, only to end up as her hero. The second Laxmi Narayan gets Papa’s photo and goes to collect the car from him, only to be mistaken for a killer and gets beaten black and blue. The third Laxmi Narayan gets Laila’s photo and asks her to show him her underwear, only to be branded an old pervert.Meanwhile, Chandu and Chandni are determined to stop anybody from buying the car where they have hidden the diamonds. However, Laila has to sell the car to save her showroom. And Jiya has to sell her designs to save herself from lecherous Mende’s clutches.

Jab We Met

Plot:

Aditya Kashyap (Shahid Kapoor), a demoralized industrialist, gets even more depressed after attending the marriage of the girl he loves to another. Feeling ashamed to face the world, he walks out of the marriage gathering and boards a train in the night. There he meets Geet Dhillon (Kareena Kapoor), a beautiful, talkative girl who is leaving Mumbai to go to her hometown - Bhatinda (Punjab).

Initially, Geet irritates Aditya greatly, and every meeting becomes mental torture for him. She discloses big plans to him of eloping with her boyfriend Anshuman (Tarun Arora) as she fears resentment from her parents. Geet irritates Aditya to the point of getting him to leave the train. As she tries to get him back on the train, she ends up missing it and the two find themselves stranded on a desolate station with no luggage or money. Geet confronts Aditya and tells him that he is now responsible for getting her safely to her house in Punjab. Both of them begin an idyllic journey through the exuberant North Indian heartland, and make their way through buses, taxis and camel-carts to reach her house.

On arrival, Geet’s family (Pawan Malhotra, Dara Singh and Kiran Juneja) mistakes the two for lovers. Before this misconception can be cleared, Geet escapes to her boyfriend in Manali. Aditya leaves with her, confirming the suspicion that they are lovers. In Manali, Aditya feels empowered to return to Mumbai and resurrect his ailing business.

Destiny despises Geet’s love story as Anshuman avoids and dumps her. On the other hand, Aditya begins to do well in life after he resurrects his failing business empire. One day, Geet’s family, who think that she is with him, confront Aditya. He is shocked to learn that Geet has not returned home. He takes it upon himself to find her and tells her family that he will bring her home in ten days.

Aditya finally tracks her down in a Himalayan town and is traumatized to learn about Geet’s misfortune. Convincing her to face her circumstances, he manages to patch up her relationship with Anshuman, and all three travel back to Bhatinda to announce that Geet and Anshuman are involved. Back in Bhatinda, the family again assumes that Geet and Aditya are together. While trying to clear the misconception, situations make Geet realise that she is in love with Aditya not Anshuman, and they get married.

Plot:

Plot:

A woman investigates the mystery of what happened on a certain Sunday if her life that she has lost all recollection of. Sehar’s world is turned upside-down when she gets a clue about the missing Sunday of her life, which points to a possible violent attack on her. Then A.C.P Rajveer takes up the mantle to sort out the complicated and jumbled up threads of Sehar’s life. Rajveer tries to be an honest cop and his honesty contributes to encouraging a total ban on any criminal activity by the locals. In the process of solving Sehar’s case it comes to light that on Sunday, different people interacted with Sehar and amongst them, one could be the accused. To name some, the lot includes ‘Ballu,’ the taxi driver and his friend Kumar, a struggling NSD actor, Ritu her close friend, a scary and suspicious character who resides in Sehar’s society, and the group whom she had come across while partying at the discotheque.
